This is true that scientists do experiments for the betterment of nature and the population living in the earth.
However, there are some cases where even after their true and honest intentions and proper efforts, some experiments turn out to be disastrous and downright creepy. Things don’t always go according to the plan, right? One of the prime examples of experiments gone wrong would be the Door to hell Turkmenistan.
Turkmenistan’s Door To Hell Is Something That You Cannot Unsee
Yes, you heard it, right people. Turkmenistan has its own ‘Door to hell’. Well, as it turns out sometimes experiments can leave huge, burning craters that stand right beneath your feet. Don’t know what we are talking about? Well, the ‘Door to Hell’ in Turkmenistan is actually a crater that has been burning for a very long period of time.
The expansive and wide Turkmenistan plains hide a very large crater which is a result of the scientific pursuits by the Soviet Geologists. The crater is what the locals like to call ‘Door to Hell’ and it is certainly not difficult to understand why. apparently, the sinkhole has a depth of 30 meters and a width of 69 meters and the most interesting part is that it remains constantly up in flames.
This jaw-dropping and astonishing phenomenon is just the start. It is said that the Soviet Geologists lighted up the crater to actually prevent the dangers of gas around Turkmenistan. Little did they know that the crater will keep on burning for 45 years? Yes, 45 years it is.
The crater site still burns to this day and is a popular attraction for tourists who come almost every day to have a look at this interesting phenomenon.
It is still unknown for how long the crater will keep on burning but given the number of gas reserves in Turkmenistan, it can be said that the burning crater is not going anywhere, anytime soon.
The crater in Turkmenistan is not the only examples of Gates of hell as there are many other examples as well.
